In what consist this? |
This experience consists of a general speech about Las Baulas National Marine Park, its focal elements of management, challenges and conservation efforts.
The talk begins with a welcome and explanation about Las Baulas National Marine Park, the ecosystems it protects and the conservation strategy. Then, we will explain about the sea turtles and their physiology on a walk around the National Park facilities. Afterwards we will walk along the beach to visit the hatchery and the collection center to explain about the local challenges and conservation efforts. We will end with a brief discussion and analysis on what actions we can all do to ensure the survival of endangered species and ecosystems. |
Why is this important? |
Tourism is one of the main economic engines of Costa Rica, and its dynamism has developed the North Pacific coast of the country.
The challenge is when this activity converges with natural areas of great ecological importance. Hence, the importance of knowing the current reality of this activity and looking for solutions to improve the interactions between humans and wildlife. |
