CONSERVATION IMPACT
Why it matters
|
Las Baulas National Marine Park in Guanacaste is a protected area that remains a critical refuge for species threatened with extinction, including the leatherback turtle of the Eastern Tropical Pacific, the yellow-naped parrot, and the endemic mangrove hummingbird. The park protects more than 26,000 marine hectares, globally important wetlands for migratory birds, and a vital coastal strip for the reproduction of sea turtles, green iguanas, crabs, and mollusks. Through citizen science and partnerships with local organizations, we carry out monitoring projects and invite people to take part in finding joint solutions to protect this extraordinary ecosystem. |
