in what consist this Expedition? |
This expedition consists of an introductory talk about the Las Baulas National Marine Park in Guanacaste and a guided visit to Carbón Bay to learn about its rocky beaches and wetlands.
At this site, the dynamics of this intertidal ecosystem will be made known through different activities such as species identification, sampling of the monitoring project, samples of the implications of climate change, among others. The different parameters observed will be analyzed and, returning to the starting point, human development, waste management, adaptation and mitigation mechanisms to climate change and coexistence with wildlife will be discussed. |
Why is this important? |
The lack of knowledge about coastal biological life and its various threats, including microplastics and uncontrolled real estate development, goes unnoticed by many visitors.
To address a crisis of pollution and environmental destruction, it is necessary to learn about intertidal life and to make visible its role in nature and its importance in a protected area. It is hoped that attendees will participate in the analysis and discussion of possible solutions. |
We contribute to Sustainable developmentThis project seeks to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse; as well as to sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant adverse impacts, including by strengthening their resilience, and take action for their restoration in order to achieve healthy and productive oceans.
